Summer is here and so are a million activities. I am far behind on my blog since it seems like our days are constantly filled with fun summer outings. I love this time of year, despite the craziness. I love that Jordan gets to be home and enjoy spending time together as a family. We're still finding time to fit in plenty of reading. He is currently working on The Magic Treehouse series, which he loves. While he quietly reads to himself, I read to Jocelyn, then she works on her letters. She is so excited to start Kindergarten next year. Luckily, Trevor still naps, so we all work on our reading while Trevor is peacefully sleeping in his room.
So far this summer, we have enjoyed swimming nearly everyday. Jordan and Jocelyn took swimming lessons and have improved dramatically. Jocelyn is our mermaid, who has no fear of the water whatsoever. Sometimes I have to remind her that she isn't an expert yet. I wouldn't be suprised if she becomes a lifeguard in her teenage years. We have also enjoyed nature by going hiking and picnicing with family. We have also discovered the local children's museum. We bought a membership, which has been the best investment ever. We can spend hours there and all three kids never complain or get bored.
We have had a day or two of not such fun. Trevor had his eartubes put in this month. There is nothing worse for a mother than having to hand over your precious child to a nurse, knowing they are taking him for surgery. He had a wonderful doctor though. In fact, Trevor saw Dr. Wilkins right before the nurse was coming to get him. He recognized his doctor and went right to him, asking for a lollipop. So Dr. Wilkins took him on back. The surgery was quick and went really well. He had fluid in both ears, but it drained relatively easily. But when Trevor awoke, he was not a happy camper. He got sick from the anesthesia and screamed for about 30minutes straight. Not fun to be trapped in a car with a screaming child when you can't comfort him because you're driving. Luckily, by the time we got home, he was pretty calm and once I fed him, he was pretty much back to normal. Huge thanks go out to my sister-in-law who invited Jordan and Jocelyn over for a sleepover since I had to be at the surgery center so early in the morning. I have noticed a difference in Trevor since the tubes were put in. I have been working for over a year trying to get Trevor to whisper at church and he never would. He would be well-behaved but talk so loudly. Who knew he didn't understand the concept of whispering? The same day as his surgery, I whispered to him and he whispered back. It's all about the small victories!!
Anyways, I hope you all are enjoying your summers and I will post pictures of our adventures soon. Happy July!!
