After a month of being apart, Shayne was able to come for another visit on April 6. The timing was perfect since Jordan was on Spring Break. We would be able to spend two days together as a family before Shayne had to return to Las Vegas. I busily began making plans, researching fun, family activities in our new area. We had decided on going to the zoo in a town a couple hours away on our first day. As I ran up the stairs to jump in the shower, I remembered that I needed to get something out of the dryer. In turning around, my foot slipped on the carpet, and I fell down a flight of stairs. Immediately, the big toe on my left foot began to throb. I tried to stay positive, thinking the sting would go away after a few minutes but it just got worse. I had to go to urgent care for an x-ray. Sure enough, it was broken. Plus, the break was bad enough to need a trip to the podiatrist for a second opinion. Because of the location of the break, it was really important that I not move it at all or I could need a future surgery. Thus, the doctor wrapped my toe, my foot, and then put me in a walking boot for two weeks. So instead of a fun, family visit, I spent the two days with my husband, laying on the couch with my foot elevated, quite disappointing. At least he was able to take the kids to the movies and play with them outside. Hopefully our May visit will be a little better!!
