Never A Dull Moment With Trevor

As many of you know, Trevor arrived in our family three months earlier than expected. I always say he was too impatient to wait for his due date and he has been pretty impatient ever since. But he is a huge joy and I adore him. Due to his prematurity, we take every opportunity possible to find things that can help him "catch up" and be where he should be for his age. He has done amazingly well, but any extra help can't hurt, right? So in April, we started the testing process to see if he can qualify for a preschool program offered through the school district. Before the actual testing can begin, we had to have both his eyes and ears tested to make sure they are hearing and seeing properly. Our first appointment was for his eyes. The doctor informed me that he will carry on the tradition of his daddy and brother of needing glasses. Luckily his eyes are not as bad as daddy or Jordan but he does have astigmatism in both eyes. He got his glasses in today and now I can see it will be a huge struggle. He doesn't want to wear them at all. But I think he looks very handsome. Hopefuly, he'll get used to them a little at a time.

So yesterday, he had his hearing test done. What do you know? He failed!! He has a history of ear infections and he has ruptured his left eardrum twice but he talks really well so I had never worried about his hearing. Anyway, I took him to the Pediatrician today and he does have fluid in his middle ear. Now we have to visit the ENT on Friday. I'm really hoping that he doesn't need to get tubes put in his ears but I want him to hear normally. The audiologist says that right now he hears everything muddled. Poor kid--it's always one thing after another with him. Hopefully we can get this resolved quickly so we can have a nice summer(perhaps doctor-free!!)
