Cape Lookout

Shayne came to North Carolina during the first week of August. Knowing this would be his last visit before the kids started the new school year, we decided we would take a trip to th coast and visit a lighthouse. We decided to go to Cape Lookout because you have to ride a boat to get across to the island that the lighthouse is on. We knew the kids would love the boat ride and they did not disappoint.
Here we are on the boat.

The lighthouse does look quite beautiful, yet imposing when you're up close and personal. It is one of those things that puts into perspective just how small we are in the grand scheme of things.

This is the keeper's home.

Jordan took this picture and I thought he did a pretty good job, despite the subject matter!!

The opposite side of the island had a nice beach area to swim and enjoy your stay. There really were not that many people there so it was nice to feel like we were on a private beach. My kids are such waterbugs that you have to drag them out to make sure they are staying hydrated. We had a great time togeter as a family and I can't wait until we go to the beach again!!
