School Has Finally Begun!!

Today is Jocelyn's first official day of Kindergarten. She has been excited for so long that I'm so happy the day has finally come. Last week was the longest week ever since Jordan started but Kindergarten doesn't officially start until the next week. See, here in North Carolina, they do full-day Kindergarten. So the first week of school, to make it easier for the kids, they invite small classes of 7-8 to attend just one day during the week. During that day, the kids rotate to each Kindergarten teacher so they can become familiar with the whole Kindergarten staff. They also do assessments and from those, determine how to make the classes. Jocelyn attended her staggered start day on Wednesday. Then on Friday, the Kindergarteners came in to meet their fficial teachers and that brings us to today. I'm thrilled that she gets to be at school all day. There is so much for them to learn that I felt Jordan didn't have enough time for any social interactions with his classmates going half-day. Trevor feels a little abandoned but he is savoring the undivided attention of mommy. Hopefully, the newness wears off, though, and he'll begin entertaining himself sometimes!! Then maybe I can actually get to some cleaning. So here's to the new school year. May it be a great one!!
